Global Sport Initiative

Initiative Overview

This initiative exists to promote efforts towards implementing the intergovernmental, collaborative action points agreed upon at the ASEAN Plus Japan Ministerial Meeting on Sports, with a view to contributing, through sport, to achieving sustainable development and peace in the participating countries.
It focuses on implementing programs in ASEAN member states that contribute to developing Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) and to the promotion of Sports for People with Disabilities (SPD). These programs consist of the activities outlined below.

Program Details

１）Support for developing Physical Education Teacher Education systems for inclusive Quality Physical Education
- ① Formulation of a collaborative strategy
- ② Implementation of Physical Education Teacher Education Programs
- ③ Proposals for future cooperative measures that will contribute to building collaborative systems within the framework of ASEAN-Japan relations
２）Research studies for the promotion of Sport for People with Disabilities
- ① Research studies (formulation of survey designs, conducting of needs assessments and interviews, analysis of study results)
