In Otsuka Lab's Trademark, 3D rectangular coordinate system means the 3D action into each direction (axis) as foolows.

X axis: Research (conducting own search completely leads to publishsing academic papers and presenting it in academic conference)

Y axis: Training & Couaching (enhancing sports performance by science-based training and/or couaching)

Z axis: Social contribution (introducing research findings and contributing to active society)

Throughout the three actions, we are setting an excellent example to contribute development of Nippon Sport Science University.

In our laboratory, we aim to improve sports performance for athletes and to improve motor skills for novices using biomechanical approaches.

In particular, we focus on the two following topicks:
1) Cross-sectional and longitudinal researches which measuring and assessing sports performance using advanced devices such as high-speed cameras, force plates and inertia units
2) Development of measuring and assessing methods for sports performance using popular devices such as smart phone and smart watch

We are currently measuring sports performance at various places involving field and laboratory, assessing that for practitioners ranged from beginners to elite athletes.
By collaborating many domestic and international research groups, we aim to contribute to developing sports science and society without conventional thoughts.
