Beach practicum

This four-day practicum, which is held in July of each year, is part of NSSU’s long-standing tradition. It includes a 4-km long-distance swim intended to train the students both mentally and physically. This learning experience allows the students to understand and practice the concept ofwa(harmony) that is necessary when living with others in groups, while appreciating the preciousness of the natural environment. It not only involves activities in the ocean (to practice emergency rescue techniques) but also entails study sessions and lectures that are taught by the participating instructors.
海浜実習

Camping practicum

This practicum is intended for the students to acquire the essential knowledge and technical skills (outdoor living and activity skills) involved in camping. Through the process of engaging in such learning experience out in nature, the students are able to comprehend the different aspects of the environment that surround us all—including the relationships between nature and humans, society and its members, and culture and people—and to develop into the individuals that can thrive in each of these contexts, both personally and professionally.

In this annual four-day practicum, which takes place at an ice rink in Yamanashi Prefecture that is also used for official competitions, the students train in speed skating, ice hockey, and figure skating.

Golf practicum (only for the Department of Physical Education)

In this practicum, the students go on an actual golf course to play rounds and learn the positive features of golf as a lifelong sport. It is taught by currently competing golfers that are invited from outside NSSU and also by the members of the varsity golf club, which allows the students to learn advanced skills.
