Operating in accordance with the objectives and policies of junior colleges as prescribed in the School Education Act, the Women’s Junior College of Nippon Sport Science University carries out in-depth research in the specialist fields of health and physical education, sports, and childcare and early childhood education and aims to produce graduates who are healthy, creative, and well-educated, and who have the ability to succeed in their profession and in daily life.
Students in the Department of Physical Education who earn the required credits can obtain a type II junior high school teaching license (health and physical education). In addition, students who wish to pursue further studies in the fields of physical education and sports can take an exam to transfer to the four-year Nippon Sport Science University.
The Department of Early Childhood Education was first established in 1963 as the Early Childhood Care and Education. In April 2006, the department was reorganized and relaunched as a designated nursery teacher training facility. Since April 2006, therefore, students who graduate from the Department of Early Childhood Education (two-year course) are able to go on to take the one-year Advanced Course for Teaching Credential of Early Childhood Education, and upon completing the required credits, obtain two qualifications, a type II kindergarten teaching license and a nursery teacher license, in only three years.
