NITTAIDAI and the Olympic Games
The history of Nippon Sport Science University has always been linked with the history of modern Olympics. Starting with Yonetaro Nakazawa, who placed sixth in a track and field event at the ninth Olympic Games in Amsterdam, our history encompasses a brilliant record of 33 gold medals, 34 silver medals and 41 bronze medals so far. The entire school helped to hold the Tokyo Olympics in 1964 including a number of athletes and officials who participated in the Games. We contributed to the success of the Tokyo Olympics and helped to encourage and promote sports. After that Olympics, we set a clearer policy of nurturing top athletes. Since then, we have been producing more Olympic athletes than any other university.
